Dear Conference Delegates.jpg
Dear Conference Delegates,
On behalf of the organizing committee of the 9th International Conference on Engineering and Applied Sciences (ICEAAS), I am truly honored to welcome a gathering of talented and dedicated individuals who share a common goal: to engineer a sustainable future.
I am also excited to introduce you to Chiang Mai, the economic and cultural heart of Northern Thailand and a city known for its stunning temples, scenic landscapes and unique blend of traditional and modern lifestyles. Beyond its historical landmarks like Wat Phra That DoiSuthep, this city is a hub for innovation, education, and technology, making it an ideal location for our discussions on engineering innovations for a sustainable future.
One of the many highlights of Chiang Mai is its diverse and delicious cuisine. The city is famous for its traditional Northern Thai dishes, reflecting a blend of influences from Thailand’s neighboring countries. I recommend trying some of the local favorites, especially the world-famous KhaoSoi noodles and Sai Ouagrilled sausage. Exploring the bustling night markets, where you can enjoy everything from mango sticky rice to Som Tam papaya salad, offers more than just a meal. You will have an opportunity to connect with the culture and warmth of the people of this beautiful region.
As we stand at the crossroads of the 21st century, the need for sustainable development has never been more urgent. We are facing challenges that affect every aspect of our lives—social equity, economic stability, and the health of our planet. Sustainability issues challenge us to look beyond the immediate and consider the long-term impact of our actions. Here in Chiang Mai, I have seen how communities unite to protect their natural environment and promote sustainable tourism, serving as a powerful reminder that even small efforts can lead to significant change.
This year’s theme, “Engineering Innovations for a Sustainable Future,” is not just a slogan; it is a call to action. It reflects our shared responsibility to use engineering not only as a tool but also as a catalyst for positive change. Whether it’s advancing renewable energy, designing resilient infrastructure, or embracing circular economy principles, the work we do here has the potential to make a meaningful impact.
Throughout the conference, I encourage you to actively engage with these critical topics. Consider this conference not just as a series of presentations but as a collaborative space where diverse ideas can merge to create solutions that none of us could achieve alone. By the end of this conference, I hope each of you will leave with a few actionable ideas to apply directly to your work, allowing you to make immediate progress on your projects or research.
Our discussions on renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, and climate resilience have the potential to benefit real communities and drive progress on a global scale. Remember, the innovations we explore here today will shape the world of tomorrow. So let’s make them count.
In closing, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has made this conference possible—our organizers, sponsors, speakers, and, of course, all of you attending. Your commitment to sustainability is not only inspiring but also essential. Together, we have the power to shape a future where engineering leads the way towards a more equitable, prosperous, and sustainable world.
I wish you all a productive and inspiring conference. Enjoy your time here in Chiang Mai!

Chiang Mai’s Eco-Challenges: Tourism, Labor, and Sustainable Growth
My article (speech) explores the transformative potential of integrating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with Sustainable Development to drive economic growth in rural Thailand, particularly in the region of Chiang Mai. Despite its natural beauty and cultural richness, rural Thailand faces significant challenges, including environmental degradation, Myanmar labor issues, and the complexities of local political dynamics. By focusing on sustainable tourism, reducing the environmental impact of practices like forest burning, and improving the conditions for Myanmar migrant workers, businesses can contribute to both economic prosperity and social equity. I highlight how CSR initiatives, when aligned with sustainable development goals, can address these challenges, fostering a collaborative approach that benefits businesses, local communities, and the environment. Through a case study and analysis, I illustrate how a sustainable economic model can be achieved in Chiang Mai, offering a blueprint for rural development across Thailand.
